The central fishery administration organ is Department of Fisheries under the ministry of Agriculture (in Beijing).

      The major duties of the Department are:

• Manage national fishery production,

• Make fishery development plans, policies, and strategies,

• Instruct fishery economic and business system reform,

• Formulate fishery laws & regulations, and inspect their implementation.

There are 10 divisions in Department of Fishery:

• General Office                                              

• Planning Division

• Technology & Standard Division

• Fishery Supervision Division

• Fishery Port Supervision Division

• Resources and Environmental Protection

• Aquaculture Division

• Fishery Product Processing & Quality Supervision Division

• Long Distant Waters Fishing Division

• International Cooperation Division

Local Fishery Administration Organs

       Every province has fishery bureau or similar organ, which has the same function as the central fishery organ such as manage local fishery production, protect aquatic environment and fishery resources, et al.
