There are five fishery universities, one fishery college under an university and 27 fishery majors or departments in other universities.
¡¡ Shanghai Fisheries University is the key university which is under the construction of Ministry of Agriculture. There are seven colleges and four centers in it, which is Fisheries College, Food College, Economy and Trade college. Computer college, Humanities and basic science college, Adult education college; Information center, Water-environment research center,Biotechnology research center, Marine science and technology center. It has doctor & postgraduate programs, seventeen regular college courses and sixteen professional training courses. It can also train fishery offices and some part time students in Central Agriculture Cadre Management College, Ocean Fishing Training Center. Dalian Fisheries College is an comprehesive fisheries college. There are six departments, two boards, one branch and two research institutes, which is aquaculture, marine fisheries, fisheries machinary, civil engineering, electronics engineering and economy management department; Basic theory board and Marxismleninism teaching and research board; Dalian Fisheries College branch of Center Agriculture Cadre Management College; Aquaculture Research Institute and Fisheries Economy & Socienty Development Research Institute. It has
twenty-three majores: fresh-water fisheries, marine aquaculture, marine fisheries, applied
electronic technology, shipping engineering, fisheries economic management, economy and trade, foreign trade English,
etc.
Guangxi Agriculture College
was founded in 1932 in the city of Wuzhou, Guangxi province. It has nine departments and
twenty-two majores, which is agronomy, horticulture, plant protection, agriculture
engineering, etc. The teaching force is very strong. The original name of Fisheries
College of Jimei University is Xiamen Fisheries College. It is an advance learning college
which is direct to Ministy of Agriculture. It was founded in 1972. There are
five departments and twenty-four majores, which is aquaculture, machinery and electronic
engineering, food engineering, management engineering, economy and trade department. The
total area of the college is 137,000 square meter,and the fresh-water aquaculture area is
28,000 square meter. Zhejiang Fisheries College is
directly to Zhejiang province. It lies in the shore of East Sea. It was founded in 1958. There are six departments and
two boards, which is fisheries engineering, aquaculture, food engineering, machinery
designing and making, sailing, economy and management department, social science board and
basic course board. It has five research institutes which is marine fisheries, food
science, fisheries biology, aquaculture technology and boat designing. Nanjing Agriculture University is a key
university in China which is directly to Ministy of Agriculture . It grew out of the
Agriculture College of Jinling University and the Agriculture College of Nanjing
University. It has more than seventy years history. Now there are 970 teachers in it,
including 120 professors , 400 associate professors and 380 lecturers. The key subjects are crop inherited
& breeding, plant pathology, agriculture economy & management, etc. The regular
college courses are agriculture, plant genesis & breeding, plant protection, plant
pathology, agriculture insect, soil and plant nutrition, vegetable, gardening, machinery
electronic engineering, industry management engineering, agriculture economic management,
international trade, English, agriculture information, food engineering, etc. It is a key university directly to guangdong province. The university studies on ocean and fisheries of tropical and semi-tropical area. There are 4 colleges and 1 department, which are fisheries college, engineering college, agriculture college, adult education college and economy & trade department. Now there are 6000students and 1200 teachers including 150 professors or associate professors. In future, there will be about 8000 persons in 2000, 10000 persons in 2010. The university has about 60 years history, it has gained much experience, and enjoyed high prestige. . Agriculture University of Southwestern China was founded in 1950. It is a key agriculture university in China.. There are 2000 teachers and employees , including 60 professors, more than 300 associate professors and associate reseachers. It has fourteen departments and ten majors which is agriculture, fruit tree, vegetable, gardens, silkwarm and mulberry, soil agronomy chemistry, agronomy environment conservation, water and soil conservation, plant conservation, agromy economic management, agronomy machanization, machinery designing and making, farrier, silk engineering, etc. And there are ten professional training courses . Huazhong Agriculture University was founded in 1952. The original name is huazhong Agriculture College. It is a key university directly run by the Ministy of Agriculture . It lies in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province. The key courses are crop genesis and breeding, agronomy microbiology, fruit tree. The regular college courses are crop genesis and breeding, plant conservation, soil and plant nutrition, agronomy microbiology, fruit tree, farrier, animal genesis and breeding, food machinery, fresh-water fisheries, agronomy trade, food engineering, food science, society, etc. Qingdao Ocean University is a key comprehensive university directly to Ministy of Education. The original name is the fishery department of Shandong University. It was founded in 1964. Now there are three departments and seven majors: aquaculture, marine fishery, food engineering, fishery resources & management, ocean boat sailing, marine aquaculture and medical chemistry. The major of fishery aquaculture is the key course in China. It has 2 research institutes, which are Marine Medicine & Food Research Institute and Aquaculture Research Institute. The college is not only the teaching center, but also the science and technology research center.
